PAIR OF ENGLISH ORMOLU WALL ORNAMENTS. Design Registration for 1845.
This beautiful Pair of English Ormolu Wall Ornaments, true to the Country House Style, bear the Victorian Design Registration Lozenge for 28 June 1845.
Modelled as almost life-size female hands with ornate cuffs and holding vine leaves, these ornaments have separate bunches of grapes which hook onto the back, leaving them to swing freely.
They display so well and would make a magnificent and very eye-catching pair of curtain tie-backs.
As can be clearly seen, the gilt has worn, particularly on one hand. The small hanging loop on one of the bunches of grapes has broken and needs repair.
Height including grapes: 11 inches (28.5 cm)
Width: 9.5 inches (24 cm)
Depth: 3 inches (7.5 cm)
