PAIR OF VICTORIAN STAFFORDSHIRE ZEBRAS. Circa 1860
Showing the primitive charm of the Staffordshire Potter, this wonderful Pair of Victorian Staffordshire Zebras date from circa 1860.
The decoration is sublime. The fine stripes to the bodies and legs and the feathering to the tails are deftly painted.
The charm even continues in the old paper labels on the bases in the handwritten message ‘Charlotte from Mother’.
The Zebras are in good condition. There are no cracks or restoration. There is an old, small surface chip just below the raised hoof on the right side Zebra. This can be seen in the close-up photograph. There are two or three other minor grazes to the glaze.
This Pair of Victorian Staffordshire Zebras display beautifully and their naive charm makes you smile.
