UNUSUAL BURGESS & LEIGH SQUIRREL CHEESE DISH. Circa 1880
This impressive and unusual Victorian Pottery Cheese Dish bears the marks of Burgess & Leigh of the Hill Pottery, Burslem, Staffordshire and dates from circa 1880.
The detailed transfer decoration of a Squirrel, amidst branches of Cobnuts, is a delight. The cover is triangular, which is unusual, and it displays beautifully.
There are no cracks or restoration just some minor nicks to the corners.
