This rare English Blue and White Transfer Printed Pottery Serving Plate, with Well and Tree detail, shows the Death of General Wolfe in 1759 on the Plains of Abraham near Quebec. The scene is set within a border of union wreaths, military weapons and the Crown and Mitre.
It was made by Jones & Son of Hanley, Staffordshire Potteries, a pottery which only ran from 1826-1828.
The Plate has a good, old-fashioned rivet repair which shows the esteem in which the piece was held.
