This charming Pair of Victorian Staffordshire Spill Vases date from circa 1880.

The wide-eyed White and Gilt Seated Spaniels have great appeal.

Spill Vases were used to hold long spills of rolled paper, matched being very expensive at this time, which were then lit from an already lit fire in the grate.

A similar Pair are illustrated in Clive Mason Pope’s A to Z of Staffordshire Dogs, Page 92 Figure 33.

The condition is good with no restoration.
