This interesting French Pressed Burr Walnut Snuff Box dates from circa 1820.
The Lid is decorated with a scene taken from a Lithograph by H. LECOMTE and H. VERNET of 1817 entitled ‘Blesses Français attaques par des Cosaques’.

The underside of the base has an intricate geometric pattern.

There is some damage to the rims, which is shown in the last photograph, and the inside collar, which holds the two pieces together, is missing.

Despite this, the u usual subject matter makes this a collectable piece.
