LARGE POTTERY MR. PICKWICK STICK STAND
£745.00
This unusual Antique Pottery Stick Stand, modelled as the famous Mr. Pickwick from Charles Dickens’ first novel ‘The Pickwick Papers’, dates from circa 1880.
Mr. Pickwick stands before a hollow tree trunk where you can rest your cane. He stands an impressive 26 inches (66 cm) in height, is well-detailed and strikes a very attractive pose.
The Stick Stands is in overall good condition with no restoration. He is missing a finger to one hand, has a couple of minor chips and some paint loss.
In life, as in the novel, Mr. Pickwick is versatile. He can either stand on the floor and be used as a Stick Stand or placed on a table where the empty tree trunk can be filled with a potted plant or floral arrangement.
Height: 26 inches (66 cm)
