It would appear this Carved Occasional Table was commissioned by a serving British Airman in India in 1925.

The RAF Insignia is carved in the centre of the top, alongside the country and date. However, something was ‘lost in translation’ and the Royal Air Force became the Royal Air Fours. A lovely example of when Recieved Pronunciations goes awry.

A rare survivor and splendid conversation piece.
