REGENCY GILT DECORATED POPE JOAN GAME

This finely gilded and decorated Pope Joan Game dates from circa 1820.  It spins freely on its stand and retains its original cover.

Pope Joan was a popular Fmily Card Game during the 19th Century and this ‘board’ would hold the participants’ counters and bets.
It is in overall good condition.  There is some wear to the outer edge on one side but little of the original decoration is missing.  This wear begins just before ‘Matrimony’ and finishes just after the King of Diamonds.

The wear is offset by the quality and condition of the original decoration and the retention of the original cover.
