SEVEN HOURS IN THE LIFE OF A NURSERY POODLE by JOHN PARRY 1865
£465.00
This Framed Pastel Drawing, measuring nearly 4 feet in length, is entitled ‘Seven Hours in the Life of a Nursery Poodle’ and is signed and dated 1865.
It shows 7 images of a Toy Poodle and its demise over a period of 7 hours:
12 o’clock (Just arrived) Perfect Doggie, 1 o’clock Tail-less, 2 o’clock Eye-less, 3 o’clock Nose-less, Leg-less, 4 o’clock Head-less, 5 o’clock Body-less, 6 o’clock Wind-less.
The drawing is in its original frame which, like the poodle, is well-worn. There is a small crack to the glass in the bottom left corner.
A wonderful and unusual example of a Victorian’s humorous view of Christmas and the presents given.
Height: 9.5 inches (24 cm)
